Symposium Program / Schedules

The symposium will last three days and will cover the following activities:

Day 1

- Registration of participants, distribution of badges and bags with pen and notepad,
- Words of welcome from the organizing committee,
- Session 1: Ecology and diversity of tropical African fungi (Keynote speakers and participants).

Day 2

- Session 2: Molecular systematic and phylogeny of tropical African fungi (Keynote speakers and participants),
- Presentation in workshops and exhibition of posters (Participants).

Day 3

- Session 3: Production, use and conservation of tropical African fungi (Keynote speakers and participants),
- Training on Fungarium data management: Reasonable and adequate management of fungarium data is required to effectively conserve all species. Thus, during this symposium, training will be given on managing fungaria data. The trainers will expose, using Brahms and Excel, the possibility of creating databases that will consider the collection number, collection date, habitat, country, contact details, collector, identifier, and image of each specimen. This training session will take place in 2 hours (10 a.m.-12 a.m.), on the 3rd day of the symposium
- Training on pest control in fungarium: Fungarium specimens are vulnerable to attack by insects, particularly beetles and psocids (paper lice). This training session will focus on the different types of pests and how to fight against them and avoid their attack on fungarium specimens. This training session will take place over 2 hours (1 p.m.-3 p.m.).
These trainings are open to early careers researcher participants (PhD and post-doctoral researchers).
